Lady Anne's Quest by Susan Page Davis

The Prairie Dreams Series, Book Two

Finding an imposter instead of her uncle means Anne’s quest must continue after The Lady’s Maid is wed. Dan is determined to protect her from the swindlers now trailing her, even if it means losing his heart.

But though he’s good at keeping her safe, he’s certain he’ll never be able to convince Anne to be his wife since her sights are set on finding her uncle and returning to England. As her quest becomes even more difficult and dangerous, Anne finds her feelings for Dan changing. Will she soon be envisioning a new life in America?

My Review:
No longer does Lady Anne use her title; now, she's simply Anne Stone, and she's still searching for her elusive Uncle David to tell him that he's the last remaining brother and therefore the new Earl of Stoneford. However, David proves hard to find. Dan, a quiet man, who Anne already rejected in Book One, accompanies her (for protection) with the hope of winning her love.

The well-written characters and dialogue make this story come alive. I can envision this story being made into a movie. Susan Page Davis has done an excellent job of research, and I enjoy learning more about this period of American history. There's adventure, mystery, murder, suspense, and yes, romance. What more could a reader want?

There is one loose end that tantalizes me. I can't wait for the next installment.

Discussion Questions included. Thank you to Barbour Publishing for my copy.
