Booking Through Thursday - 5 for Favorites

1. Do you have a favorite author?

2. Have you read everything he or she has written?

3. Did you LIKE everything?

4. How about a least favorite author?

5. An author you wanted to like, but didn’t?

My Response:
I just posted about my favorite author, Angela Hunt, a couple of days ago. She's released a new title, Dreamers, and I reviewed it here. I've read twenty-two of her novels, but not everything she's written. I can honestly say that I liked everything, but of course there are some titles I LOVED!

¥es, I do have an author who I cannot bear to read, but I won't be unkind enough to mention his name. I suppose I could name Faulkner for #5.

How about you? Do you have a favorite?

Thanks for your comment! Of course I had to promptly pop over and see what your answers are. I'm intrigued by the book cover on yoru side bar - One Perfect Day. Did you enjoy it and do you have a link to a review that you can send me?

You should read my answer.... we have the same mindthought on something!

I have to say that there's no particular author I don't like, because technically, I would've read his/her books too to reach that conclusion. :) I'm in the process of trying to re-read a few authors whose initial read I didn't like. :)

Glad to see I'm not alone in not caring for Faulkner. I feel like I should give him another chance, but at this point, it's not a priority.

Have a great Thursday!

I've never heard of your fave -- will have to check her out!

I'm up here. Happy BTT.

I don't think I've read any Hunt. I'll check her out.

I devoured Faulkner in my undergrad years.

I've never read Hunt, but recently I picked up a couple of her books because the synopsis sounded like something I'd enjoy. I'm glad to hear how much you enjoy her books.

I've never heard of Angela Hunt, to be honest but I might check her out once I've finished my reading challenges.

Haven't heard of this author either.

Thanks for your comment- I shall have to look into Angela Hunt. I love it when you find an author that you really enjoy and they have written a lot of books rather than just the one!

I like what I have read by Angela Hunt. I really like The Note.

Yes, Faulkner too. I forgot to mention him..

Who's that secret author?

Faulkner is an interesting choice for #5, I suppose I could say the same about him. And 22 is a LOT. What's much more important to me than "favorite favorite" is knowing you can pick up a new (or new to you) title by someone and be pretty confident you will enjoy it.

I guess I'm not the only one who hasn't heard of Angela Hunt - I'm Waterstoning her out as I type (as in looking up her books in the online bookstore, not trying to kill her). All jokes aside, is the author you cannot bear still alive, and that the reason why you won't mention his/her name?

I'm a little amazed to see how many people are listing Faulkner as somebody they wanted to like but didn't. Makes me think maybe I should give him another try, just to be fair! (Or maybe not.)

Sally, I have several of Angela Hunt's books on my TBR shelves! I will have to move them up on the list to read!! I connected with the author on either goodreads or shelfari and she seems like a wonderful person as well!

I stayed away from Faulkner during my English lit degree on purpose. I think I read just one short story by him and that was definitely enough!

I'm not familiar with Angela Hunt. How did I miss her 22 books??? I'll have to check her out.

You're the second person I've seen to name Faulkner! I don't know how I forgot about him for question #4.

Fuuny you should mention Faulkner, I was just dicussing him this weekend with a literature student friend and they felt the same.

These were hard questions! I picked Ricahrd Adams as my favorite author of all-time, with Rudyard Kipling as runner-up.

Gregory Maguire wrote the "Wicked" series based on the Wizard Of Oz, the Witches! Very good reading! Thanks for visiting my blog :)

I have never read Hunt, maybe I should!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I probably shouldn't have named mine, either. I'm glad you like CS Lewis, too!

Anonymous said...

That was supposed to be 'shouldn't have named my least favorite authors.'

Anonymous said...

I haven't read Hunt.

I have many, many favorites. I did stoop to naming one I can't stand, though. :)

Faulker's rhetorical style reminds me of Henry James. At least Henry James is more accessible. I can tolerate overly embellished prose but not fifty pages of rhetorical digression.

I agree with Faulkner for #5. I have never finished anything of his. I haven't heard of Angela Hunt, though.

I didn't answer todays question. Found it impossible to answer.

I haven't heard of Angela Hunt either. I would love to read one of her books.

Cool, someone I've never heard of.

I'd not heard of Angela Hunt either. More titles to add to my wishlist!

My current favorite author is David Field. The Fairest Star, the final book in his time-travel trilogy is out now and I'm going be really sorry to see this story come to and end.

I picked a dead author for #4, so felt safe mentioning him by name. ;-)
