Giveaway One Perfect Day by Lauraine Snelling

This is the story of two mothers, strangers to one another. The first has two children--twins, a boy and girl, who are seniors in high school. She wants their last Christmas as a family living in the same home to be perfect, but her husband is delayed returning from a business trip abroad. And then there's an accident--a fatal one involving a drunk driver.

Meanwhile, the other mother has a daughter who needs a new heart, and so the loss of one woman becomes the miracle the other has desperately prayed for. While one mother grieves, and pulls away from her family, the other finds that even miracles aren't always easy to receive.

My Review:
This is one book that everyone should read. I've never said that or even thought it before. But this novel touched me--more than that--it locked into my emotions. The scene on the stairs is so moving that I felt as if I were there, seated beside Nora. The author has been peeking into my life!

No one wants to grieve, but we all have or will have to face death. And no one wants to read about grief; however, the author flip-flops the chapters such that the reader experiences the roller coaster highs and lows of the organ donor program--the giver and the receiver. Detailed research is evident and put on paper in an interesting fashion. Written in third person in the voices of the mothers, enables the reader to make a quick connection. The characters are real with everyday flaws. The character of Betsy, the dog, is amazingly written. This is a surprisingly uplifting novel, one I highly endorse.

    Sally,
This book sounds difficult to read at times for the emotions it must entail, but amazing, too, for the same reason! I'm definitely interested in the giveaway.
    Thanks!

I have a cousin who was hit by a car and killed at the age of 16, that was 20 years ago, his organs saved 6 people and 1 year ago my aunt was able to meet the daughter of the woman who received his heart. She survived an extra 19 1/2 years and had one more child because of it.
Please enter me in this one.

I am a organ donor and most of the people in my family are. Why not give life to someone who needs it? The body is just a shell anyway. My 90 year old dad received two corneas this year and was given the gift of sight by some wonderful people. Please enter me in your drawing. Sounds like a moving story. Thanks, Cindi
